Local Police
Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior official said the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
