Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is the player's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
