Sam Fender has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the MVT, which operates to preserve the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

Fender was presented with the cheque on October 16 as his latest record People Watching was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

The musician has chosen to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots had in his initial steps.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to support thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

These funds supported venues that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Additional spaces received monetary aid in modernizing infrastructure and gear that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from shows in big venues supports the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

Back when they received the trophy in the mid-90s for their album the album, vocalist the singer stated that the band would donate their winnings to the charity the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her award among multiple good causes, like the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked new equipment," she told the media.

In recent years, Ezra Collective gave their prize money to the local youth club that developed their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally winners that year M People contributed their prize to a MS organization after a friend was diagnosed the disease.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated singer Heather Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the honor. So our winning touched somebody else's life."

Last week, the trust shared it had rescued two small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into community ownership.

The Joiners in that area and the other in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
